Grilling outdoors and indoors can be a fun and entertaining experience. Grills are usually easy to operate and they work well to cook a variety of meals. From meat to desserts, barbecue grills are used by all levels of chefs. Even gourmet chefs like to use grill every now and again.

Until recently one of the most frequent places that a barbecue grill, that used infrared technology, could be found was in restaurants and other eateries. These commercial sized appliances are still used today in many food focused business and have been used in most businesses since entering the commercial food preparation world in the 1960s.. However, they are also making their way into the residential and consumer markets.

Infrared barbeques have just now flickered their way onto the residential scene. Many experts believe that this is because of their high cost. An infrared grill or barbeque can cost upwards of a few thousand dollars or more, depending on the size of the unit. Larger grills can be much more expensive than the average consumer can afford for their summertime backyard barbeques.

While infrared barbeques can be expensive, they are worth the investment and that is one of the main reasons why it is common to see them popping up in higher end areas of different communities across the country.

Infrared is a technology that has been around for a while and it is no stranger to the world of cooking and fine cuisines. Many chefs actually prefer using an infrared appliance because of its fine cooking abilities. Infrared grills and barbeques offer cooking conveniences that other appliances that are in the same class cannot offer. These conveniences include shorter cooking times and high quality results for meat that is cooked on the grill. In fact, it has been proven that meat that is cooked on an infrared grill is juicer and more tender than a cut of meat that is cooked in another fashion or on a different type of grill.

This higher quality of cooked meats may have to do with the temperature of an infrared grill. Infrared cooks food items at 450 to 900 degrees, while other types of grills, including gas and charcoal, cook meat around 700 to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.

A high quality infrared bbq is a nice looking appliance. It is usually made from stainless steel and includes lots of grilling space. From the outside a nice infrared grill can look like any other nice looking outdoor cooking appliance. Most of them even have some of the same accessories as regular outdoor grills. These accessories include: storage space, cabinets, burners and warming areas. Infrared grills also have an electronic ignition. It is the place where the infrared technology is sparked for grilling.

For people who enjoy infrared grills there are other areas of the home and different appliances that can be purchased that use infrared technology. These include heaters, saunas and other cooking items.

Chilling Facts - Fridge Food Safety

Your fridge works at slowing the growth of harmful food spoilage germs by keeping them cold.

It only takes a few hours of food being at ambient temperature for food spoilage germs to develop and once they start they will multiply rapidly.

Here are a few tips on safe fridge food storage.

Do not put hot foods straight into the fridge as this will raise the temperature of your fridge and may warm the foods it already contains. Let the hot food cool for up to two hours preferably in a cool place. If the food has not fully cooled at the end of two hours put it in your fridge but turn the temperature of the fridge down 2 degrees C or 3 degrees C (normal fridge operating temperatures are between 0 degrees C and 5 degrees C) until the food is fully chilled. Keep the fridge door shut as much as possible. If your fridge is full turn the temperature down a little more. Food leftovers will not keep for long even in your fridge eat leftovers within two days. Keep food out of the fridge for the shortest possible time. Remember to keep your food cool on the way home from the supermarket. Take cool boxes for transportation of food from the shops to your fridge. Beware of cross contamination of different food stuffs. Keep raw and cooked meats wrapped and separate. Raw meat is best stored well wrapped in the bottom of the fridge so there is no chance of it touching other foods of juices leaking onto food below. Check your fridge temperature on a regular basis and make sure the door seals are not damaged.

Panini how to make one (or two or three ... )

First, preheat your panini press to medium high and leave it in the closed position so that it will heat up quickly for you. Most machines have an indicator light that comes on or goes green when the grill is up to temperature.

The key to great panini grilling is to have the press up to temperature before you begin to cook. This insures a nicely browned sandwich.

Bread Selection

Homemade bread is the very best, but who has the time? If you are so inclined, please check out the wonderful selection of bread recipes , most are designed for your bread machine.
Second best is an un-sliced loaf from the bakery section of your favorite market. Since the panini press will compress the sandwich somewhat, thicker slices are more appealing and make for a more substantial panini.

All that aside, the type of bread that you choose is purely an individual preference. Traditionally, white breads are used for their ability to toast to a nice golden color. But certainly any bread will do. Try to pair your bread flavor with the ingredients that you will be using.

Assembling the Panini

Lightly spray the outsides of the bread slices with a cooking spray. Olive oil spray is widely available and it lends a richer flavor than a canola oil spray. Either one will work just as well. If you are not counting calories, you may use butter or margarine on the outside. Be sure to spread it evenly, so that your end creation will be evenly toasted and golden.

Any sauce or spreads that you intend to use should be spread on the insides of the bread slices next. Sauces such as pesto are always great with paninis.

The cheese (most paninis do include a cheese or two) should be placed next on the bottom slices, on top of any sauce or inside spread.

Now for the main event...panini how to make a panini... Add any meat, vegetables or fruits next, then top with more cheese and the remaining slice of bread. Please note that any meats used should be fully cooked just as in any regular sandwich.

Cooking the Panini Sandwich

When the press is hot, up to temperature, place the sandwich on the press, close the lid and press down slightly using even pressure with the top press bar. Set the timer according to your recipe directions (most sandwiches cook perfectly on the Cuisinart Stainless Steel Griddler in 2 min 30 sec) and get ready to feast!

Tips about panini how to make one even better

If your press has two removable grilling plates, using the ridged plates gives your paninis a professional "finished" look. Try placing the sandwiches on an angle so the stripes resulting from the grill are diagonal, then cut the sandwich on the opposite diagonal.

Feel free to experiment with your panini how to make it special.

When doing a simple grilled cheese, cut the finished sandwich(s) into 3 sections (instead of just in half) and stack them up on the serving plate. Talk about WOW.

How The Cuisinart Stainless Steel Cookware Made Me Savor The Good Life!

Most people make mistakes when buying cookware. As an experienced mom at the kitchen, I can really attest to the fact that cooking tools made of stainless steel are the best in the kitchen. But it shouldn't be any other stainless steel. I personally love the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel Cookware Set. In this article, I will present you the facts about why this innovative products should be seen in your kitchen and not any other.

First of all, let me discuss the benefits of using stainless steel pots and pans. Since they are very easy to clean, they are the perfect utensils if you like to have a spic-and-span kitchen. Next, pans are a little heavy at the bottom, thus it will not tip easily when empty. Finally, stainless cooking surfaces do not discolor, react with food or change the flavors.

Next, let me share with you the features I like best with this cookware set. Specifically, the pans are made up of aluminum core that is covered by stainless steel on both sides. This is what they call the Tri-Ply Heat Surround Technology. Stainless steel, according to what I have read, does not transmit heat quickly but aluminum does. While aluminum is soft and dents easily, stainless steel is hard and strong. Thus, with this product, you get the toughness of steel with the even heat distribution of aluminum. Rapid heating allows you to use lower heat setting thus, you will be able to save energy and reduce the chances of burning your food. Another thing I like about the set is that the handles stay cool on the stove top, so that meant lesser chances of getting my fingers burnt! Aside from the "drip-free pouring rims", I also admire the cover seals that perfectly fit each pot/pan. And yes, there's more. Aside from the fact that they are safe for dishwasher and broiler use, they are also oven-safe until 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Truly, Cuisinart deserved the high marks that it has been receiving by experienced cooks, because I personally give it 5 stars too. The elegance of the cookware that they offer to the consumers is really worth the price inside and out. And well, yes, thanks to Cuisinart, my family and I are really savoring the good life!
